Demonstrations, meetings, and growing up

One of the things I love about New York City, is the people. One of the things I hate about New York City, is the people. Somedays the endless crowds of (over-the-top) personalities is just too much. Like today, when I had to squeeze my way through a labor strike with thousands of people to get to school. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for speaking up, (especially under the current circumstance), but shutting down an entire district because of it – is very overwhelming for people trying to get from A to B.

Now that I got to blow off some steam, let me confirm that things are very good these days. Amongst other things, I had an exciting meeting today that ‘ll tell you more about if it pans out – I’m a true believer in Jinxing; some things just won’t come true if you say them out loud. Thinking it will come true, however, is very important. Other than that I’m working my way through my last semester and exploring opportunities for when I actually graduate  – one of the most stressful things I’ve ever done. Job? Where? What continent? Masters? Or should I work a couple of years first? Trainee? Or maybe just a summer position, and then move in the fall? These are all questions that continuously run through my head. I’m hoping the obvious solution just pops into my mind one of these days.

Just a quick update, and an old picture, to ensure you that I’m still here. Talk soon

January

Since we last spoke I’ve..

… Started my last semester at Pace University. With 19 credits, ad team and an internship, this will without a doubt be a tough semester. I’ve been at school for 3 days, and I’ve already had 14 hour days.

…Discovered the magic concept of Uber Pool. The other day, I took an Uber home for $4 – that’s insane.

…Struggled through winter in New York. One day it’s snowing, the other day there’s a rainstorm, and the next it’s freezing. Make.Up.Your.Mind.

… Worked. A lot. Fashion week is approaching, and there is so much to get done. I don’t mind though; I like what I do, and learn a lot in the process. Not to mention that Fashion Week is my favorite time of year.

… Accepted the fact that I can’t cook. Last week I messed up four dinners in a row – How is  that even possible?

…Been out and about with friends enjoying everything the city has to offer. From brunch to basketball games, there is always something to do.

…Quit sugar.  Or candy that is. After Christmas break, I felt the need for a real detox and have been able to stay away since. Yes, I’m very proud…

Talk soon, I promise. Xx Hanna

Pink party

The City of New York is filled with restaurants. In fact, I remember reading somewhere that I would take you 60 years to try every single one. Now, I don’t have sixty years to try out new restaurants, nor do I have the interest. However, I do love trying new places. before they get too popular and the line goes around the block. The other day I went to the relatively new restaurant, Pietro Nolita in Soho. The restaurant serves healthier Italian food, in a very pink, 50’s inspired environment. When we were there, the place was filled, but not crowded and we enjoyed ourselves with good pasta, and great wine. Definitely worth a visit! Adress? Adress? 174 Elizabeth st.

Back in the city

Phew. A lot has happened since I last wrote. Or not really, but at least I’m back in the city. I took me a while to get rid of the jet lag and catch up on routines, but now that I’m settled, I’m more than ready to embrace this blog – I have a feeling that this is going to be quite a year.

As I don’t have school until January 23, my days are spent doing everything and nothing; I’m exercising, applying for jobs, looking at schools, and catching up with friends. Winter break is relaxing, that’s for sure, but I for one can’t wait to get back into routines and my busy lifestyle. At least I start work this Friday. For those of you wondering, I’m going to work at the same Fashion PR company as I did last semester – it’s both fun and challenging.
